The Guide for Marking Equipment for Access for Work provides guidance for work within the Electricity Supply Industry (ESI) on the requirements for work in the vicinity of live equipment and the: marking of permit areas, marking of access routes to equipment to be worked on within a permit area, and marking of work zone limits.

This Guide supports SM-EI rules 3.413, 3.707, and 3.709, and provides information on marking systems when those rules are being applied.

The Guide has been reviewed in 2013 to ensure it is current, and no significant changes have been made to its requirements.
